Tiger Cafe
Surry Elementary is excited to serve breakfast and lunch to all students each day. Each meal consists of a protein/ main entree, whole grain, vegetable, fruit and milk per the Department of Education guidelines. We take pride in creating and serving our students meals that meet dietary specifications, but are also approachable to young eaters. We also enjoy introducing students to new foods to keep lunches exciting.
Breakfast and lunch menus are sent home each month in the newsletter, but can also be found on our Facebook page and here on our website.

Breakfast consists of a whole grain, fruit and milk per the Department of Education standards. Reminder: We do not serve breakfast on delay days.
Lunch
Lunch is available to all students each day, or students can bring their lunch from home. We take pride in the quality and good nutrition of the lunches we serve. Each meal consists of a main entree including milk, a whole grain, and a vegetable/fruit option.
Pricing and Payments

Our school currently provides breakfast and lunch FREE of charge to all students who want to eat. If students want a milk to have with their meals brought from home there will be a $0.25 charge per milk as this is not part of the government program.
We strongly encourage all families to please fill out the blue lunch program informational sheet that is sent home at the start of every school year in your child's back to school packets. Our federal school funding depends largely on these numbers, so please fill them out.
Free and Reduced Lunch Program
Sea to Table Program

As of 2025, Surry Elementary School has been participating in a program that provides locally caught seafood to students through a "Try Me" table.

Each month, SES receives a different type of fish and our wonderful chefs prepare portions for students to try. Students then have the opportunity to vote on whether they liked that particular fish.
Students also interact with that month's catch by researching and learning facts about it.
